For a lot of people like me, using a more homeopathic method of dealing with simple illnesses is more appealing than thousands of dollars on visits to doctors who pretty much tell you they can't do anything or what they can do isn't much. Many people right now don't have enough medical insurance to cover those costs, or even the costs to cover any prescription a doctor might prescribe. I, personally, don't have insurance so I use a preventative approach by taking vitamins, eating healthy, keeping my house clean and free from bacteria, and using herbal supplements when I do happen to catch a cold or another virus that really can't be helped by modern medicine, the kind of thing you just have to allow your body to fight off.
Well, as a pagan, I also like to use different herbs in my magickal ritual as well. I'd like to list here several references I use in my everyday and in my special rituals to find magickal correspondences for herbs and such.
